The Voxonus Festival early music review was born in 2011 in Albissola Marina, in Liguria, becoming a production center synonymous with excellence in philological research.

The concert experience develops from the Academia project of musicians and singers, an idea of Claudio Gilio – artistic director of the Savona Symphony Orchestra – and of the specialist Filippo Maria Bressan.

The concerts, scheduled from June to December 2022, are experiential moments that promote the dissemination of music performed with informed practice and historical instruments, enhancing culture and territories. Among the new locations are Savona, with the splendid Sistine Chapel and the Santuario mariano di Nostra Signora di Misericordia; the church Croce Nera of Saluzzo, Sassello, home of the amaretto, and Milan.

The appointments of Albissola Marina, Vado Ligure and Turin have been confirmed, with a calendar of widespread shows that, in addition to the library of Collegio Einaudi Foundation, also conquers the characteristic Church of Santa Pelagia, in collaboration with the Collegio Einaudi Foundation and with the Munifica Opera Instruction.

CARTOLINE DAL ‘900

November 11th | Collegio Einaudi Library

Conference: h. 18.30

Concert: h. 20.30

Claudio Gilio, viola – Marco Vincenzi, piano

The concert, one of the novelties of 2022, aims to return a broad, transversal look at the musical literature of the last century written for viola (Claudio Gilio) and piano (Marco Vincenzi, professor at the Genoa Conservatory). A program created around two timeless pillars: Darius Milhaud and Nino Rota. The duo will also perform music by Arvo Pärt and Maurice Ravel. It is evident that in these works the attention of the composers is turned to the classical tradition of which the Voxonus is the spokesman and discoverer. As per Voxonus tradition, Postcards from the 1900s is a program chosen by the artistic direction to intertwine historical-cultural lines between past and present. A contemporary riot that has its roots in the Baroque era, of which there will be no lack of suggestions.

Maurizio Cadossi, violino – Claudio Gilio, viola

The Ensemble Voxonus is a baroque ensemble composed by Maurizio Cadossi, concertante violin; Claudia Monti and Paolo Costanzo, violins; Claudio Gilio, viola; Eugenio Solinas, cello; Roberto Massetti violone and Claudia Ferrero, harpsichord. The program has its roots in the tradition of the festival, a brand of the Savona Symphony Orchestra for eleven years, as it develops around the famous Four Seasons. It also reveals a narrative and descriptive path that is both a metaphor for human existence and an anthem to the Venetian composer. The program opens with the aria “Icy in every vein” from the opera Il Farnace, as an introduction to the theme of cold light, continuing with Winter (when the Sun reaches the lowest point on the horizon and then reborn) ending with Autumn. In this journey through the seasons of life, each instrument embodies the essence of the season from time to time, offering those baroque arias closest, musically and poetically, to what is intended to tell through music.

“VOXONUS DUO”

The Voxonus Duo composed of Claudio Gilio’s viola and Maurizio Cadossi’s violin is one of the longest-running and most popular ensembles of the festival. It combines two musicians, two interpretations and two musical characters in a single exquisitely baroque program. The duo plays with original Baroque instruments with a classical setting, gut strings and 430 Hz tuning, capable of enhancing the notes. The duo will also focus on the story of the Baroque concert tradition and what remains of it today
