Mole residence hall before the renovation

The Mole residence hall was built in the heart of Turin in 1968, as a ‘male’ residence of Collegio Einaudi.
A 4-storey building, for a total of 5,500 square meters, which required urgent renovations, since more than 2/3 of the 115 rooms did not have a private bathroom, but only a sink and the services (showers and toilets) were in battery.
In addition, access to the building lacked suitable measures to overcome architectural barriers and the systems were unable to guarantee efficiency, despite the continuous ordinary and extraordinary maintenance.

Colored, bright and student-friendly spaces.

The new Mole Section has 148 study places (33 of which are new) in a single room with bathroom in all rooms.
The attic has been made habitable with the creation of large and bright study rooms and guest rooms for visiting scholars.
The common areas has been redesigned and enlarged.
And above all it is a residence with a limited environmental impact, thanks to cutting-edge eco-sustainable systems, such as the geothermal power plant for heating, photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, the gray water recovery system, etc.)
